Who We Are

The Quincy Association of REALTORS® has approximately 205 REALTOR® members who market property in the Quincy, Illinois and surrounding area. QAR represents and provides quality, professional services for REALTORS® and Affiliate members conducting business in our area. Members of the association promise strict adherence to the Code of Ethics of the National Association of REALTORS®. The Code of Ethics, adopted in 1913, is a criterion of excellence and a paradigm for a realistic standard of performance. QAR also focuses on social responsibilities and consumer concerns. QAR offers dispute resolution services between buyers and sellers, mediation and arbitration for members to settle business disputes and Code of Ethics enforcement. Within the real estate community, QAR's focus for the future is on enhancing technological services and providing more comprehensive information through its Multiple Listing Service. This web site is a positive step forward in reaching our goals.

Objectives of QAR

The objective of the Quincy Association of REALTORS® is to enhance the ability and opportunity of its members to conduct business successfully and ethically and to promote the public's right to own, transfer and use real property. We accomplish our objectives by:

  • Uniting those engaged in the recognized branches of the real estate profession for the purpose of exerting a beneficial influence upon the profession and related interests.
  • Promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct in the real estate profession as expressed in the Code of Ethics of the National Association of REALTORS®.
  • Providing a unified medium for real estate owners and those engaged in the real estate profession whereby their interests may be safeguarded and advanced.
  • Furthering the interests of home and other real property ownership.
  • Uniting those engaged in the real estate profession in the Quincy Association of REALTORS® with the Illinois Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®, thereby furthering their own objectives throughout the state and nation, and obtaining the benefits and privileges of membership therein.
  • Designating, for the benefit of the public, individuals authorized to use the term REALTOR® and REALTORS® as licensed, prescribed, and controlled by the National Association of REALTORS®.

Why Use a REALTOR®

As REALTOR® association professionals, our members strive to maintain the high standards set forth in the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics. Whenever you see the distinctive "R" membership mark, exclusive to members of the REALTOR® association, you will know you are working with a real estate agent or appraiser who is a member of the REALTOR® association.

Your real estate transaction represents one of your most valuable investments. It makes sense to hire a professional. A REALTOR® will offer professional representation to both buyers and/or sellers and protect the financial interest of their client.

Benefits when buying real estate:

  • The buying process: Your REALTOR® will assist you in determining your buying power, including all types of loans and the dollar amount you are qualified for.
  • Finding a home: Your REALTOR® will have knowledge of the market and they have many resources to assist you in that search. Sometimes the property you are seeking is available, but not actively advertised in the market and it will take some investigation by your agent to find all available properties.
  • Selecting: Your job is to make the final decision on which property is right for you. This is at a time when emotions run high. Your REALTOR® will provide objective information about each property that will help you with this important decision.
  • Negotiating: Your REALTOR® protects your financial investment and will make you aware of all of the issues in the contract that you sign.


Benefits when selling real estate:

  • Comparative Market Analysis: Your REALTOR® will provide you with market information so that you can price your real estate competitively using professional advice.
  • Marketing: By listing your home through the Quincy Association of REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service (MLS), you can expose your property to the greatest number of qualified buyers. Your REALTOR® will also offer suggestions on improvements you can make that will increase sales appeal.
  • Security: Your REALTOR® will help you with security by not allowing strangers, who are not pre-qualified prospects, into your home. By screening potential buyers, showings will be limited to pre-qualified buyers.
  • Negotiations/Contracts: This covers the same issues as far as buyers. Your REALTOR® will work to protect your financial interest and make you aware of all contingencies in the contract.


Benefits to both buyers and sellers:

  • Contracts: Your REALTOR® will coordinate financing, title work, appraisals, home inspections, appraisal repairs and supervise the transaction until closing. Your REALTOR® will know what is legally and financially correct and will have the knowledge and information necessary to apply for appraisal reconsideration if necessary. There are many pitfalls that can occur between contract and closing, your REALTOR® is trained to assist with these and allow the transaction to proceed in a timely manner. Real estate is a major investment. It makes sense to hire a professional. It makes sense to hire a REALTOR®.
